16 Jan 2022A route with three flaws: two minor and one major.
1 Leaving Brinkhurst it suggests following a footpath by a farm. It isn't a particularly pleasant path, unless you a fan of scattered farm machinery in a field, and misses various stops and shops. Following the pavement of the main road is better
2 Rugby has excellent public toilets which are not far from the meeting point. Had this route taken the second, rather than first right it would have passed them.
3 Following the route from Rugby, as I did, at SP 4984 7701 the route quite specifically tells you to turn right and follow a path to a bridge where you can supposedly join the Oxford Canal. All I found was a bridge with no official access to the canal and a scramble down a steep bank. Had the route not directed me right I would have found a set of steps to the canal further ahead.
Use Brirug two, as it is a corrected version of this walk.

05 May 2021A good route in dry weather. It makes good use of old railway to exit Rugby, but long sections of Oxford canal path are in very poor condition. After 2 days rain, parts were flooded and deep in mud. - cyclists were unable to get through. Route through farm at end is best avoided - continue on pavement and turn right to finish in Main Street. Hourly bus (M-Sat, Sun 2hr)service for return.
