Great route Mary! Thank you.

Quick review to verify this route. I'd 100% walk this route again.

We walked this as part of the Slow Ways National Parks Trail challenge.

A few more words and some photos to come in the next couple of days.

Loved walked this route! Nothing to add on Mary's great review.

I walked this as part of the Slow Ways National Parks Trail challenge, from Windermere to Kendal. It was a great way to complete that journey. Feet stayed dry (but maybe would not have done after rain). Loved the Fox Gloves.

The initial paths from Crosthwaite were well used, but often narrow or muddy. There were some quite narrow squeeze stiles, sometimes with mini-gates, as well as some narrow little bridges with no railings.
A mixture of quiet country lanes, field and riverside footpaths, and rather nice Lake District homes (holiday or permanent), brought me to quite a climb, past Thornyfields, and then along a very rocky bridleway, which featured a large puddle! Then there was some scrubland with bracken and signs of cattle but a path marked by yellow-topped posts. The grassland got easier again, and I reached another quiet road.
A few more paths brought me to the end of the Dales Way long distance footpath and down into Bowness, with glimpses of Lake Windermere on the way.
Quite a typical Lake District walk overall. Not mountainous but still a bit challenging, but with rewards of lovely scenery most of the way.
