Mix of residential, park and canal. Meanders a bit, maybe there is a more direct alternative, but this works well in finding pleasant ‘slow way’ moments.
Walked Walton to Bootle.
Derby Park was a highlight, the gardening team were working around the bandstand and were so friendly to everyone passing by, they knew everyone! Plentiful benches and a nice vibe, worth a linger.
The canal was a pleasant surprise; but be aware the path is shared with electric bikers who can come up suddenly and fast from behind.
At Bootle there is a metro station for onward travel if needed.

I walked from Walton to Bootle.
This is a pleasant walk mostly along wide, quiet, residential streets. Derby Park is a welcome green area with a band stand. Worth a wander around. More streets and then the canal, a green corridor with well made paths. Lots of wild fowl, bikes and anglers. Steep bridge at 18%. This takes you round the back of The New Strand Shopping Centre to Bootle New Strand Station. Rather annoyingly there is no entrance to the Centre from the back, so a short walk past the bus station to the front was required to find a much needed coffee.
Apart from a 50m narrow dirt path and a steep bridge the route is wide, flat, and easy for wheels.

There's two entrances to the Shopping Centre from the back: through the bus station, or via doors just below the big Strand sign.

Thanks for walking and reviewing the route!

Walked in reverse, from Walton to Bootle. A short, mostly urban, walk, often through residential areas. Mostly a foot and cycle route; whilst there are many ramps, crossings and no obstacles of note, there are some high kerbs in places.

Good public transport links at either end, with shops.

I'm sure it's nice along the canal but that loop is unnecessary when there is a direct route via Ash Street and Vermont Way.

I did consider that way, but the Slow Ways are about the more pleasurable rather than quicker routes. And the canal is a bit more scenic than the multistorey car parks by the Strand!
