Strider
08 Sep 2022I walked from Walton to Bootle.
This is a pleasant walk mostly along wide, quiet, residential streets. Derby Park is a welcome green area with a band stand. Worth a wander around. More streets and then the canal, a green corridor with well made paths. Lots of wild fowl, bikes and anglers. Steep bridge at 18%. This takes you round the back of The New Strand Shopping Centre to Bootle New Strand Station. Rather annoyingly there is no entrance to the Centre from the back, so a short walk past the bus station to the front was required to find a much needed coffee.
Apart from a 50m narrow dirt path and a steep bridge the route is wide, flat, and easy for wheels.

16 Mar 2022Walked in reverse, from Walton to Bootle. A short, mostly urban, walk, often through residential areas. Mostly a foot and cycle route; whilst there are many ramps, crossings and no obstacles of note, there are some high kerbs in places.
Good public transport links at either end, with shops.

17 Mar 2022I'm sure it's nice along the canal but that loop is unnecessary when there is a direct route via Ash Street and Vermont Way.

17 Mar 2022I did consider that way, but the Slow Ways are about the more pleasurable rather than quicker routes. And the canal is a bit more scenic than the multistorey car parks by the Strand!

08 Sep 2022There's two entrances to the Shopping Centre from the back: through the bus station, or via doors just below the big Strand sign.
Thanks for walking and reviewing the route!
