Walked Bootle to Liverpool. Good, easy to follow route.
About half is on canal towpath- a few cyclists and dog walkers, hissing canada geese, but mostly just me and some ducks.
A few benches for sitting and thinking.
The other half is urban, mostly residential. I passed the Hillsborough memorial just before reaching the end point at Lime Street station.

At Bootle, if you want you can skip the main shopping/refreshment street and go more directly between canal and station, by using the same routing as Boowal Two.

I walked from Bootle to Liverpool Lime Street.
From Bootle New Strand Station around the bus station and along the high street past New Strand Shopping Centre to the canal. Well made tow paths with lots of interest, lovely bridges. Exiting the canal over Leigh Bridge there are steps but there is a short detour for wheels (see picture) making the route suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Then wide residential streets that get progressively wider closer to the center, pedestrian light-controlled crossings make this safe. Past the bus station you arrive at Lime Street and the busy city center.
A pleasant route, as green and as accessible as it could be.

A foot and cycle route, mostly along the canal; wheelchairs can do 99% of the route, but route away from canal has stairs and cannot find an alternate route.

Between two stations, both in shopping areas, it's not a pretty route, going through some industrial and residential areas, but it's a straighteners one, and one with very few obstacles.
