Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

13 Dec 2022Not the most exciting route but it is entirely wheel friendly (see later note).
You pass through the centre of Blackburn quite quickly and the suburban streets aren’t what you would call pretty, but they are a good surface and you get out to more interesting areas quite quickly. One thing to note is that a lot of cars do park partly on the pavement.
Once you get to Ramsgreave & Wilpshire the views improve significantly. This route passes Ramsgreave & Wilpshire and Langho stations which may be of use if you only want to do part of the walk. The route is also served by a number of busses.
The rest of the route is very pleasant (in a walking along a not too busy road sort of way) . My only word of caution is when you need to cross Ribchester Rd near to the Wilpshire Hotel ///logo.round.ducks.
The left lane into Ribchester Rd. is a sweeping filter lane. Traffic makes the turn at speed and can’t see you until they are on top of you. As you look before crossing traffic heading to Whalley is stopped but the filter lane to Ribchester Rd is on green which makes it a dangerous crossing in my mind.
I suggest that you cross further down the hill so you can see any traffic, and they can see you.
