Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

23 Jun 2022June 2022. Direction Blackwood to Newbridge
A very good walk through a varied countryside, although there were a couple of access difficulties. After crossing Blackwood High Street and leaving behind the hussle and bustle of the town, the path crosses the River Sirhowy (Photo 1) and passes through a housing estate, before crossing the A4048 road (take care here as there is no dedicated crossing place). Following the old farm lane and surrounding fields feels like a million miles away from civilisation (Photo 2). After the community bench (Photo 3), the path turns off and goes through more fields and emerges onto another lane, although the exit was not clear, so a little improvisation was necessary. The walk through these lanes gives some lovely views across the fields to Pentwynmawr and Newbridge (Photo 4), The path then crosses more fields (Photo 5), before descending into the top end of Newbridge. There is very little waymarking on these paths and at this time of year it`s quite overgrown in places, so I had some difficulties getting through and probably walked a lot more than planned trying to find the way. In the end, it was all worth the effort on account of the scenery.
