A unique city centre and urban SlowWay, which requires the use of the Mersey Ferry.

I've not much to add that hasn't already been covered in previous reviews, however given the cost of the crossing can be expensive during the off-peak hours, a potentially cheaper option could be to buy a combined bus, train & boat ticket (the Saveaway ticket) for £6.80, which whilst not valid at all times, can present a healthy saving.

The route through Liverpool is excellent, through some of the main shopping streets, and down to the waterfront. The streets are wide, pedestrianised, fully accessible, and buzzing. There is a flight of stairs soon after leaving Lime Street Station which can be avoided by following the slope straight after the first road crossing.
The ferry crossing is great fun, with fab views of the Liverpool skyline. It is also fully accessible. Currently a standard single fare in the weekday rush hour periods is £2.90. Outside these hours, however, it is necessary to pay the tourist cruise rate, £11.50 if no concessions, which gives a longer return route with commentary, but you can break the journey and get on and off at both ports. Both ports have full facilities.
The route through Birkenhead is fairly tedious but functional. There are some kerbs, spoiling the full accessibility of the route. The plus point is the interest of seeing one of the Mersey Tunnel entrances from quite close up, including going right over the mouth of it.

Really solid route.

I was racing to catch the ferry (check timetables in advance!), so I only took in the Birkenhead side of the route at a jogger’s pace, but from what I experienced it was direct, accessible, and (most important) ACCURATE!

The ferry ‘cross the Mersey is iconic, of course, though a bit pricey.

The Liverpool side was great, taking you through the main shopping centre. Anything you could possibly need you could find here! I love Liverpool.

Full marks.

More practical Birkenhead route than previous. Still necessary to take ferry, so timing is essential. All areas are accessible, and passes through main shopping areas between railways stations.
