17 Feb 2024 (edited 18 Feb 2024)I walked from Berkhamsted to Markyate.
A beautiful walk, open fields, golf courses, woodland, and quaint villages with interesting architecture.
It had rained a lot recently and some parts were muddy but I successfully waded through to the applause of woodpeckers and the excited chatter of squirrels. There are some steep hills, the terrain undulates, but nothing overly strenuous. Steps in places. Nice views, even on a misty morning. Well signed (The Hertfordshire way) but some signs hard to spot amongst so many others.
I'd do this again, in spring or early summer the new greenery will be stunning.
Steps and gates - not for wheels.

09 Nov 2022I walked from Markyate to Berkhamsted. I found the route very easy to follow (mostly following the Hertfordshire Way and well-waymarked throughout). Almost immediately out of Markyate you're in beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, going through and around arable fields, pasture, meadow, besides woods, through villages with scenic churches... It's mostly off-road, can be muddy in places but overall I really enjoyed this walk!.

20 Jul 2022Pleasant route with not too much road. Ther are many paths in the area so easy to go wrong. Therefore, really important to follow the route carefully, preferably using a GPS.
