Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Joan in Dursley
02 May 2021This is a lovely route from Berkeley to the A38 but unfortunately after that we ran into some problems.
Between the A38 and the M4 the footpaths marked through farmers fields no longer existed and the fields were planted with crops.
One gate was locked and had barbed wire over the top, some had been forced aside to allow a narrow space to climb over.
The level crossing over the railway had a sign saying it was closed. The steps up the railway embankment to the former crossing were dilapidated and overgrown with brambles and the Stiles were falling apart.
Most Stiles on this section were in overgrown hedges and the step up was loose or broken. Planks over ditches were rotten and my son put his foot straight through one.
After the motorway underpass, there is no path to the left, the brambles were over head height.
We diverted to stinchcombe village and walked home on the road from there.
Overall not a pleasant experience and unfortunately the closure of the level crossing and state of Stiles made this a difficult, or even impassable route.
