Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

26 Jun 2023I walked this route from Holytown to Bellshill. After crossing the railway bridge its a fairly straight route along Clydesdale Street which closely follows the railway line - its not the most scenic of routes but its safe and has decent pavements. However, once I had reached Mossend and the end of Clydesdale Street the route directs you to follow Garfield Avenue but that isn't possible - the section of the street accessed from Calder Road is quite rough and looks like it hasn't been maintained well and is a dead end - its completely blocked off from the rest of Garfield Avenue. I had to retrace my steps back to Calder Road and walked along Ella Gardens instead. At the end of this street is a footpath which takes you onto Garfield Avenue at the other side of the blocked section and I could continue with the route as described. This last section takes you across some playing fields, and then onto a path round the back of some houses, which leads you out onto Noble Road. The train station was a short way along this road accessed by a footpath, which was just at the corner after crossing Motherwell Road.
