21 Mar 2024I live in the area and quite often walk between Colne and Barrowford. The crossing of the A6068 is very dangerous and definitely not recommended! I have crossed here a couple of times (running very fast when a gap app[ears in the traffic) and will not be doing it again! If you do follow the path from the north side of A6068 towards Barrowford, you'll eventually reach a series of stepping stones. It is dangerous to attempt a crossing when they are wet which in Pendle is most of the year! I have reported this to Pendle Borough Council and asked if a bridge could be installed and the answer is no. Their Countryside Access Officer has cleaned the steps in the past but it is not a priority.

05 Apr 2023I didn't dare attempt this route because I really didn't fancy crossing Vivary Way/A6068 immediately after the exit roundabout at the end of the M65 which I think would be dangerous. The speed limit is 50 here but people often come flying off or onto the M65 with motorway mentality. Also, I am not convinced that there is any public right of way around the back of Boundary Mill where the trucks unload. Pictures from Google Maps. Flagged for accuracy and access as well as safety!.
