Description

This route avoids all main roads out of Banbury, and keeps the use of quieter roads down to a minimum. Banbury to Adderbury there are 5 gates and 3 stiles, from Adderbury to Deddington 2 gates and 4 stiles. The ground, even in February, was firm. Mainly grass pasture or compacted earth path with some stone paths and tarmac sections. Generally easy walking, with 3 short steeper sections. There was some livestock in a few (3) fields (sheep and ponies). A couple of slightly muddy short sections - one in Banbury as you cross the main road - one in Adderbury after walking alongside the mill stream - but nothing that requires hours of wading through mud, although there were 2 kissing gates just before Adderbury that were unavoidably water logged. The best views are at the end as you top the ridge before arriving in Deddington

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Easy walking, well used routes, very little mud and plenty to see. Access to public transport and facilities good. A couple of missing signposts, but easy enough to work out.
