Description
This is 6km / 3 ¾ miles shorter than AshFav 1. For me this is now an achievable long walk including travel. It also has about a mile less road walking although, to be fair, for both routes this is mostly on quiet lanes. It shares several features with AshFav 1 which the reviews liked, but also avoids some issues mentioned.
Pubs sitting on the route are in Kennington @ 3.5km, Boughton Lees @ 7km and Molash @ 13.5km. B Lees is also on the 666 bus route (the Molash bus is useless). Other potential breakouts or detours to bus, train, pub, etc at Kennington (Old Mill), Wye, Challock, Badlesmere, Leaveland, Sheldwich or Selling, see screenshot/map 1. Five sculptures in King's Wood are on the route or <200m detour, see map 2.
Main changes:
1) within Ashford uses river corridor towards Kennington (AshFav 1 reviewer went this way not via AshFav 1).
2) Avoids Wye so missing station, tearooms, etc, but adding bus stop and pub in Boughton Lees.
3) A different uphill climb to King's Wood. It looks like a good view at 10km (reviewer took a detour to get a view).
4) Adjusted via King's Wood and Molash for more sculpture and to avoid “overgrown… deliberately blocked” path/alley. Passes The George pub (not quite on AshFav 1).
5) Misses Badlesmere (pub, bus stop) but saves a mile and avoids footpath (starting at ///beaks.imprinted.snow) which is barely used by Strava runners and not visible on aerial views through crops. Both indicators of a blocked or problematic path. Also avoids possible (better used) alternative path (///belonged.desire.matchbox) with vegetation cuts 3/year (nettle or bramble problem). Nettles were an AshFav 1 issue.
5) A shorter route into Faversham, similar distance road walking and saving another mile. (Also used on FavCan 1 but not mentioned over 3 reviews.)
There is 40 metres of road walking on the A251 (near Boughton Aluph ///infinite.landowner.wicked) which looks a little uncomfortable. Strava records show that regular runners keep off the road by using the adjacent field edge instead

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
