14 Mar 2026 (edited 15 Mar 2026)Walked from Armthorpe to Dunscroft. This route is shorter and more off road than ArmDun one. My only slight reservation is the A630 crossing, but there is a central refuge and it is at a roundabout so is fairly safe with care. Note that both meeting points are badly sited - close inspection reveals both to be on roads, and neither has any seats. The Dunscroft one is at least between a pub and a small green space.
From Armthorpe's meeting point we head east along Church Street, using a zebra crossing to cross, then continue past the shops and turn left onto Mill Street, crossing at the lights (my original route took me through back streets and left me with a crossing that was difficult on a busy Saturday). We trend right onto Rands Lane, following it out of the houses, past the cemetery and through an industrial estate to reach the A630 roundabout.
Cross with care and continue onto the bridlepath beyond, which doubles as the access track for a pallet company - a footpath sign reassures walkers that they are on the right track. We soon leave the site to cross a flat open expanse with the M18 in the distance - there is a short unsurfaced section but the path was not muddy.
We then follow farm tracks past a prominent potato warehouse to emerge on Mosscroft Lane, where there is a bench the far side of the road. There is no pavement on Lings Lane until we are in the older houses, but the cars seemed to expect walkers. This leads us to the main road, and once we have crossed that the Dunscroft meeting point is almost in sight on (quite literally) Ash Hill Road.
