05 Feb 2023I walked this from Chorleywood to Amersham on a cloudy Saturday afternoon. There was not a lot of rain in the past week, and the paths where easy to walk on, with little mud.
From Chorleywood's "High Street" I walked along an avenue for a while before crossing into Carpenters Wood. From here on until Amersham, all of the walking was through woods, with no cows insight. There were a few places where I had to cross a road, but that was generally not a problem.
After crossing one such road, Amersham Road, the walk brought me along Chenies Manor and through the estate. I very much liked going through all the woods, and there were often also great view of the Chess Valley, and another stately home, Latimer House.
I also spotted my first daffodils of the season, and a Muntjac.
The last woods that I walked through was the Market Reading Wood. From there on the walk was along pavements and a sports centre, before finishing the walk at Amersham station.
After I finished, I realised I hadn't actually walked *this* variant, but Amecho 2. They're both good routes, with "2" preferred as it avoids a useless climb over the railway. I'm marking this as a 4, and the other as a 5 star — photos are also at Amecho 2.

11 Jun 2021We walked this route from Amersham to Chorleywood.
It is pleasant with gentle gradients through attractive woodlands. Going via Chenies offers the opportunity of visiting a stately home when it is open and obtaining refreshments at one of the two inns in the village. Some of the footpaths are rough with tree roots underfoot and they can be muddy after rain. There are no stiles. In general the route is well considered. Between Amersham station and the countryside there is an important footpath that links Plantation Road and Quill Hall Lane. The Plantation Road end of the path is not marked and is easy to miss so proceed with care. At the Chorleywood end of the route the path recommended skirts the edge of Carpenters Wood. However, there are other paths within the wood that are more pleasant than walking along the backs of houses.

09 May 2021Predominantly a woodland walk between these two commuter suburbs outside London. There are plenty of roots across the trail and it will get very muddy in rainy seasons but a nice walk. There are many ways you could choose to get between Amersham Station and the edge of town where the main trail begins (or ends!) but the drawn route is nice enough (although don't bother crossing the railway - it adds nothing of interest).
At either end you have a decent choice of shops and eateries for refreshments.
