Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

19 Sep 2021The first half of this walk is across Sutton Park and sticks to the main, paved paths, so is very easy to follow. Leaving at Streetly Gate it then follows the pavements of the main roads through Streetly. There is a pub, shops, takeaway and restaurant where Hardwick Road meets Chester Road. The route then follows the main road, Bourne Vale past Streetly Cemetery and a couple of rugby grounds. At the roundabout at the end you turn right into Erdington Road which you follow straight into Aldridge a few metres from the meeting place. The only places to take particular care are crossing the road at the Bourne Vale/ Erdington Road roundabout and also where you have to cross Erdington Road at the edge of Aldridge itself. I walked this route at the same time as the alternative and found the ease of navigation and extended time in Sutton Park preferable in this one. Some of the countryside to the south of Aldridge is a delight to be amongst. Although the roads can be fast and noisy, the pavement is wide enough to always feel safe. This route keeps you off the road for the maximum time it can. I can't see how it can be improved. Full marks.
