Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

A nice quiet route between Acton and Hammersmith, taking in 3 parks en route. For those without any special accessibility needs, it's very good.
Throughout the route, busy roads are crossed at pedestrian crossings and are accurately mapped.

Closer to Acton the paving is good although there are a couple of missing dropped kerbs. Following the route through Acton Park exactly takes you across the grass including through a muddy puddle. Running parallel to the path across the grass is a paved path which should probably be used instead.

Closer to Hammersmith, there were a few tree stumps which had narrowed the pavement and fresh woodchip had gone down in Ravenscourt Park on the path we were following which would make it harder to navigate for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Generally good accessibility. A few things to highlight:
- a couple of tree roots distorting the pavement and narrowing the passage
- tree roots at Ravenscourt Park path can be a trip hazard

The route is pretty direct and quiet, passing through residential areas. Not many amenities on the way, although it is a short route, so that should not be an issue.

It was not a route of my choice from Acton to Hammersmith but I would walk it again with pleasure.

A fairly flat route, mostly on pavements so limited potential for muddy sections! Route through Acton Park does direct over the grass, but the path runs adjacent, so could be used as alternative. Some narrow/uneven sections where tree routes have broken up the pavement, but generally ok to walk.
Parks appear to close/get locked at dusk, so may not be suitable for all times of day.

Excellent urban route from Hammersmith to Acton Central station. The route passes through 3 parks (they do close overnight so this isn't a 24 hour route), has several tempting refreshment stops, is reasonably direct, and accurately drawn so no dangerous road crossings.
A top urban Slow Way - Full marks from me.
