Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Usually I review long rural slow ways in the West Country but was in London visiting family so thought I'd see what a big city route was like for a change.

I enjoyed the short walk up to Acton Central station listening to green parakeets shrieking in the trees and also the old-school excitement of waiting at the level crossing gate there for a train to go through. It's a decent route that makes the most of local green spaces and doesn't have any narrow places or awkward road crossings. I would certainly recommend it (although note from a previous reviewer that it goes through parks that aren't open at night).

First proper metropolitan route for this mainly rural flāneur, and blimey you like 'em flat and short...Does the business though with a couple of parks and long streets of identical small mansions. I think it could be wheeled all the way.

Good urban route from Acton Central station to Chiswick (Turnham Green station). Reasonably direct, parks and residential streets all the way. I occupied the long stretch along St Alban's Avenue by awarding front garden prizes, sometimes a little entertainment is necessary ...
The parks do close overnight so this isn't a 24 hour route.
5 stars from me.
