    1. For this survey of 'Aldrea one' I walked from Reading to Aldermaston. There are several signs at the town-end of the path in Reading that indicate the path is liable to flooding. I do not know the flood situation beyond Fobney lock, but it is not unreasonable to expect that other parts of the path also flood as it runs alongside the canal for the entire route. 2 km from start — 13 May 2021

    2. Several of the footbridges have combinations of barriers like this one at Southcote lock (upright posts, concrete blocks etc) in an attempt to prevent motorbikes. 5.1 km from start — 13 May 2021

    3. Many of the footbridges which cross the canal and which cross little side streams feature small 'steps' up/down like this at Southcote Lock. 5.1 km from start — 13 May 2021

    4. After Southcote Lock the path becomes a rougher gravelled surface (it is tarmac as far as Rose Kiln Lane at 2.8km, and then a compacted surface until Southcote Lock) 5.1 km from start — 13 May 2021

    5. The SlowWays path and the Cycle Route 4 deviate at Burghfield lock (7km). At this point, the path becomes rougher and is more of a 'track' through the fields, and there is a stile. Following the Cycle Route will take you on a small section of road and then another path, to rejoin the SlowWays route at 8.5km. Although I didn't confirm this, I think this will avoid stiles. 7 km from start — 13 May 2021

    6. Rough track up to footbridge, and concrete blocks forming narrowest section of path (1m wide). Once over the bridge, the SlowWays path rejoins Cycle Route 4. 8.5 km from start — 13 May 2021
